Newbie!
Well, I thought I'd update you on the problem......

.....there is no problem!

Went away for the weekend and the pump behaved itself, so there you go, if the pump is playing up, don't run out and buy a new one or even a new seal kit before giving it a clean.

my sister had an air bath and that had been putting black bits in for ages but its not the pump thats at fault.

it turns out that you can never get all the water out of the airway and as the bubble holes are in the bottom of the bath its an algae from the stagnant water that is always left in the air system

We also had a air bath in the house when we bought it .........thought I would give it a go........bit of a waste of time........imagine an intense burst of underwater gale force farting and youve got what its like. Much prefer a shower.
But we read that these baths do need to be cleaned to kill off any bacteria in the pipes .and even though we dont use it we use special tablets and flush it through regularly.
