Are the cost of repairs caused by water ingress covered by your insurance policy ?

Depends on the terms & conditions & small print of the policy in question I guess.

The Autofail hasn't let you down has it Steve?

Spoken like a smug continental van owner. !
Your next line wouldn't be I told you so ,would it ?

There was torrential rain yesterday and I found water at the joint between the roof and the wall , roughly where the over cab meets the roof .
I had the van professionally valeted a few weeks ago for the first time and I'm wondering how carefull he was up there. I'm possibly being paranoid and only time will tell .
Terry has said he will look at it when I get back so will know more then .
If I can get hold of a ladder I can take a look and apply some mastic or something if I see any obvious split or hole . Until then I hope it don't rain again .
To cap it all Mrs Vlad came out the van and snapped the arm on the electric step .

I had this on my first Autotrail.
I got up there with some Sikaflex and never had a problem again, so good luck Vlad.
ALL vans have problems and probably the weakest part of the roof IS near the front "bulge".
But mine was also at the rear where the trim strip covers the join in the roof panels.
Same treatment and another good result.
Mitch.

Did the valet use a pressure washer?

Just walking in the wrong place could have caused it Vlad.
DO the remedial work and move on.
The sooner the better mate.
You will sleep easier for one thing.

The sealant on the overhead goes very brittle and cracks with movement... Had to do it on my previous van (2005)... Scrape it all out and put in a new bead of Sikaflex or Puraflex 40 (toolstation)... Another area to watch is the flue from gas fire.. The seal also goes brittle and starts to let in water, cheap to buy off ebay and an easy fit..

As I sit here in the sun amongst the French ,I find that along with their ignorant way of driving they also share a love of Chausson motor homes !
They're bloody everywhere , you'd feel quite at home here Jon
