I posted on here a few weeks ago about a small leak from my Hymer roof. It's a few drops of water run down the windscreen on the near side when it's been standing for a while. @DBK kindly sent me half a tube of sikaflex which I used to seal around the Oyster dish mounting plate. Unfortunately that's not worked so I'm looking at what else could be the source. Next suspect is the full width exterior seal between the aluminium roof and moulded GRP front section.
Has anyone had this seal redone and was it a big job ?
I think before I do anything I will remove the internal one piece moulded plastic section and see if that gives a positive id to the source of the leak. Does anyone know what's behind this plastic, I assume insulation but what sort, blanket glass fibre or kingspan type expanded foam ?
Does anyone know from past experience ?
BTW it's a 2003 B 544
TIA

On mine the inside ceiling over the bed was a piece of faced hardboard covering an inner skin of GRP that was part of the front moulding & not detachable (2005 B584). Before you do too much take a look at the front marker light on that side. They're usually none too clever. If the aerial is in that area check that too.

Marker light - good thinking, I'll take it off tonight. Presumably there is a rubber seal that perishes?

I spoke to someone with a Hymer Classic a while ago with a similar sounding leak, he had just used aluminium tape to bridge the gap between the windscreen top and front panel till he could get home and sort it properly. Have you looked at the seal there?

Windscreen seal looks ok, pretty sure it's above that but marker light is a possibility I will investigate later.

Not sure how the overcab bed insulation is fitted, but can you look behind it to see the rear of the lights?

Dont know about the seal between the front GRP moulding and the roof skin on a Hymer but on our N+B Flair the joint is Sikaflexed and then has a flexible flash band type tape over the joint as well, I got some for RV roof joints and replaced ours a couple of years ago. If that was the source of your leak I would think that you would be able to see something amiss if you go up on the roof.

The external seal has a plastic strip overlapping the joint, it looks ok but the edge of the strip isn`t sealed down to roof surface but presumably most of the sealant is further down.
There is some slight water staining on the internal ceiling beneath this seal so that makes me think this may be the source of the leak, rather than marker lights but I will check.
I was not able to do much this evening as it was pi$$ing down but I will look at the marker lights when we get a dry spell. I can`t see a screw to unfasten, anyone know how to dismantle these marker lights ?

I hope someone comes up with the answer as the bulb has gone in one of ours so I need to replace it!
