Hi I want to wash the white curtain thingy that comes down with the drop down bed. Someone has told me that you can just prise it away from the runner its on but I can't see how to do it. It seems well and truly fixed in. Has anyone washed theirs? If so can you offer some advice on how to get it off?

Ours has small plastic runners that slide into fixed runners on the wall of the cab. You have to pull the mattress out to see them. Not sure how the top edge is fixed though, as I've never looked!

Good luck - let us know how easy/difficult it is and I'll make my mind up whether to do ours/or not ! ;)

Is yours a Hymer? I'll just pop out and have a look at ours. Back in a minute!

Just looked at ours. Like you say i can't see how it could come off. Ours looks like one runner slides inside the fixed one, but having got it off I don't know if you'de ever get it back on and look the same as it does now!

It is a hymer and I'm worried I'll pull the whole thing off if I just start pulling it. Can't believe though that it cant be washed. Nothing in the manual, it just says to dry clean the curtains. Really would like it clean as I'm the one with my face right up to it.

If its a hymer there are plastic strips sewn into the the curtain edges, which push into a plastic strip both on the the bed under the mattress & behind the top of the curtain where it fixed inside the van.

if you run you hand along the top of the curtain you should hit hit the plastic where it connects the to the roofline of the van.

I confused myself & i know what i'm looking for

Me too! Its the only tiny downside I have with what is otherwise a brilliant van!

We have just removed and washed ours. The top has a plastic runner sewed to it, to remove just pull it out so it unclips, start from the end and to replace it just pushes back in.

I did a little video but it was large to post.

You should have taken before and after photos so we could see if it's worth the trouble! ;) Seriously though, well done you and @Manic for being true Trailblazers and venturing into cleaning territory that most of us would never enter! :notworthy2:

It's done :D. I washed it in the bath, used bio liquid, lots of stain remover and a glo white sachet. Its come up lovely. Very pleased with it. We took the opportunity to do some repairs on the eyelet holes that were a bit frayed.
Glad your sorted, when you put it back it just pops in.
Ha ha! pops in you say. Not without a lot of grunting and groaning and contorting yourself into unnatural positions.
Anyway we're pleased and think it was worth doing. Thanks for all your help.

Didn't know the hymer curtains were dry clean only, I washed and oxy mine when we bought the van and they came up lovely. The nets went from grey to white too!

I've washed all the curtains & bed 'curtain' in our Hymer. The main curtains went in the washing machine on a Delicate program.
Glad our photo & explanation worked for you-Hils & Glenns-I'm other half of Manic!
