So I believe - that's why a meet there is attractive (y)

Thanks. Hay on Wye has a bit of a slope at the top if I remember rightly :)

Yes it does. Most vans park at the bottom which is a bit of a drag from the toilets and you still need chocks but it does keep you away from the late night revelers (both of them, this is Hay we're talking about!) who are slamming car doors at midnight.

Have a brilliant time, overnight at the end of the prom at Old Colwyn is recommended, as is the chippy just up the road! :)(y)
See you when you return.

We have arrived at our first stop had a beautiful run from home past Bala Lake and Barmouth to Shell Island, sitting on a rock the smell of camp fires the sun slowly going down over the van and a sailing ship going past, and I am still in a little T Shirt, happy days

If you get as far as South Cardiganshire ,North Pembrokeshire and want a night wild camping try Ceibwr but depends how big your outfit is anything over 6 metres probably best avoid as just two lay byes, stony beach with seals.

Quick update on Council Parking in Powys. In Crickhowell overnighting 1 in 7 is still free from 6.30pm to 8am the following morning. The day time rates are reasonable. Toilets are closed from 5 when the TIC closes. Can't update on whether overnight payment is required for the other car parks in Brecon/Hay/Newtown etc. There are also a number of potential 'free' overnighters between Crickhowell and Brecon if you follow the route of the canal.

If you are feeling really adventurous, you could take a trip to Zip world. They've got 2 sites. http://www.zipworld.co.uk

We were sunning ourselves in Barmouth yesterday afternoon, on a day trip. The road home past Bala in the evening was virtually empty. By the harbour there's quite an interesting little museum based around finds from an early 18th century shipwreck just up the coast, like a mini Mary Rose. For some reason we'd never noticed it before. If anyone's into walking it's worth a hike up the hill behind the town to the viewpoint on a clear day. If you carry on up to the left (north) you come to a track up a gulley which leads to the deserted farm of gel-fechan, which is also worth a wander around, especially with a camera. Only downside was the Las Vegas Amusements closing at 5:30pm so we had to go to the other arcade to throw away all our two pences in the Penny Falls.

It's a rally organised by the South & West Wales Group of the MCC so you have to be an MCC member. Details Broken Link Removed - I've just been told tonight that it's a booked meet because of limited places.

Is a place to go, Try St Davids, just outside St Davids is a Camping and Caravan site, But near there is a small place called Abereiddy, there you can wild camp, and swim in the Blue Lagoon, and its on the coastal walk
its got a public toilet with running water.

Don't forget Aberaeron. There's a nice ice cream shop by the harbour. Then tootle along towards Lampeter, turn right towards Llanwenog where there's a pleasant CL allegedly owned by Phil Mitchell:D

Well we have hummed and hared should we go to Scotland for September and so that was the plan, but with motorhomes plans change, and after taking the van up to Mochdre to get a new Electroblock, think the electrics in Morocco seen paid to ours, while it was been sorted we went into Rhos-on-Sea, what a lovely place and spent a pleasant couple of hours pottering around.

That got us thinking why not spend September pottering around Wales and what is on our own doorstep but so often gets ignored, so the plan has changed starting Wednesday with a few days at Shell Island then following the Hymers nose to see what we can find, will post some pictures see if we can match Scotland. ::bigsmile:

I was assuming they'd cycle back again bungy - our preferred starting and finishing point is the seaside. :)

Today the morning started watching the Dolphins swim past our van and breaching the water, while we enjoyed our morning cuppa, followed by a cycle ride up into the mountains having dinner by a lovley clear river and buying our fresh veg from honesty boxes.

In the evening we had T Shirts on until 7pm then had a fire on the beach a bottle of Lemonchello a bottle of Whisky, with Joy (Movan ) and the only Sue, we sat and watched the tide come in just up to our fire, don't think money can buy days like these.
