Not quite sure how my mind works :xeek: - but dreamed this little idea up and thought it might be a fun way to share experience and knowledge of sites/aires/routes/bars/restaurants/POI's or whatever on a virtual 'online' tour through Europe and wherever!:xcool:

The idea is - to post from the previous post, a route to a destination departing from the last posted stopover, of a reasonable distance (2/300 km or 3-4 hours driving) of your choice, hopefully based on something you've actually done, then impart a bit of information regarding the end location - be it a site/aire/stellplatz/glacier (!) or whatever!
Will doubtless be some 'crossover' posts - but take the last destination posted as a start point. Then on to the next destination, and so on.

Feel free to use tolls or not, tunnels, ferries, whatever - and lets see where we get to:xThumb:

One day - whatever gets posted here someone might actually do the whole lot - and that might be me:xsurprised: (...yes - its a quiet day at work today:xrofl:)

I'll kick off..........

Dover - Dunkirk on DFDS, mid-day ferry so had lunch on the boat. Was around £60 for the crossing.
Followed the signs out of the port, then left onto the toll free E40 (A16/A18) in the direction of Belgium and the town of Veurne. Didn't even notice crossing the border from France to Belgium! Exited at Veurne turn off, and back tracked on the N29 back towards France via Adinkerke and the 'infamous' tobacco alley, where a quick stop at a 'Real tobacco' outlet resulted in plenty of cheap fags and baccy - and a whole heap of Belgian chocolate thrown in for free too! Could have stayed and wild camped there no problem. This road followed a canal, and there were plenty of places to pull over, but we carried on, back into France, and into the small town of Bray Dunes. Found the 'official' aire, but it was just a car park by a small supermarket. Stopped there for an hour to acquire the first load of cheap wine:xThumb: then drove straight into town, turning right upon hitting the T junction just before the beach onto the Blvd. Georges Pompidou towards the (signposted) municipal site. At the end of the road there were many large marked parking bays, and there were already numerous motorhomes parked up, so we pulled up there. It was parking on the street outside someones house, but was permitted and free!
A quick stroll though the town and beach - not much to report, few bars and pizza places, very wide open beach clearly popular with kite flyers and the like, but not much to write home about.
A quiet night, safe and sound with the other MH's around us, then up in the morning and after some fresh bread and croissants from the boulangerie in town - to decide where to head next...........over to you:xsmile:

A quick one line post to grab the next leg will save multiple posts from the same destination - while we wait for the route to continue!
First grab post gets to do it!
