We are taking our spaniel to France via the channel tunnel for the first time shortly. Please could any Funsters recommend vets near to Calais - perhaps within a 20 mile radius and near to a site and with easy access for a 7.6 m MH, that we could use for the visit before we return home. Rather nervous about taking him to be honest! Especially after the recent thread about adders and vipers! jeeks!
Second question! is it true that you have to have a muzzle for your dog when going through the chunnel?

definite no to last question, unless there is a new rule at the French dog check in station since we last used it 2013 (October)

As to vets can't help, but don't forget you must be checked over 24 hours and less than 60 hours before travelling, so Calais may not be best option, we were done in Biarritz!!

Have fun

Look on the downloads. There is a whole host of vets on there, all have been used at sometime by Funsters.

Hope this works

If you stay at http://www.frenchcampsites.co/camps...-france/gandspette-chateau-du-gandspette.html and then come out of the camp site turn left and then first on the right is a vets. We have used this site a number of times and its great. Noticed the vets before and thought how handy it was but we didn't have a dog. We will be using this one next time we travel abroad as we have recently acquired a rescue dog who will be able to travel after the 23rd June.

Just looking for the link that's just been posted above. I've just come back from France, there are loads of Vets about so you don't need to look for one in Calais. Bear in mind you have between 1 and 5 days to get it sorted. We took our own worming tablet which the Vet administered and it cost 27 Euros in total.
Just make sure that the Vet has filled in your Pet Passport correctly including the time of seeing your dog. Most Campsites will know of a local Vet and will arrange it for you.

We used this one in March and will defiantly use them again, vet we had was part English so no language problems for me, also its situated out in the countryside with a very large parking space right next to it so another big plus for me.

We have Megs vet visit in mid France so we travel a couple of days later. Never heard of the muzzle though and we've been troughdozens of times with a dog. Anyway I'm more likely to bite them:Angry: than Meg is, she is totally non aggressive and a registered therapy support dog.
