We were going to use one of the many suggestions on here to get our pooch seen before crossing Tuesday on the shuttle.
We just remembered everything close down in france on Mondays aaargh!
Does anyone know if that includes vets?

not long enough
quite a few (most) are closed as we found to our cost once

you have a 5 day window though, but must be at least 24 hours before crossing, I would get it done on Friday if I were you :)

A lot of vets are open on Saturdays if you didn't want to go on Friday. Best to avoid Calais if you can you will pay mega money.

I pay €30 for a Staffie in Calais. Open Mondays, no appontment needed but be prepared to wait if busy. Don't leave until Monday if travelling Tuesday. Travel cannot happen until at least 24 hours have elapsed so delay could complicate your travel plans.
The vet I use has parking outside and is close to new Aire.

Thank you
Not clear on the 5 day window.
I thought we had to have him seen within 24 hours of sailing
So its up to 5 days before but not less than 24 hours? Is that correct?
Thank goodness we asked.
We are around Lignes now so we can start looking for somewhere soon.

We used the vets in Bergues (by the statue of a cow) when we were last there in 2015. I just found the vets card and it states the surgery is open Monday to Friday 08.00 to 12.00 and 16.30 to 19.00. Phone number is 0328686666, all the staff seem to speak good English.

Just to finish this off.
We stayed at Camping de la point north of Reims
I have found this camper site on CamperContact:

Camping De la Pointe
http://www.campercontact.com/en/fra...in/21821/camping-de-la-pointe.aspx?lang=en_EN

Only 14e for a night in March. Very comfortable small leafy site with great showers but poor Wi-Fi.
We used a vet that was four k away called Clinique veterinaire de la Citadel. Big carpark It is a animal hospital with a good reputation. The procedure was quick and efficient. We paid 56e but 20e of that was the worming tablet that we didnt know to bring with us from our English vet (is that cheaper? )
I expect we will stay here and use this vet every time we come up through central france now if we have the dog with us.

@Jac Sprat
Our local vet in Burgundy charges us 11 euros for the examination, worming tablet and stamping the Passport.

Vets near the Channel Ports charge ripoff prices for exactly the same service. In view of the 5 day window you should have your dog treated well away from there.

By the way, our dog is a GSD/Border Collie, weighing in at 27 kilos so the vet's charge is not reduced because she is a small dog.

maison - do you have the name of your local Vet?
Yes, I have supplied it previously but........

Pierre Verjux
71390 Buxy

They are in Rue Haute de la Gare, opposite the Champs de Foire, which has car parking.

The only problem is that, as most people in the area, they do not speak English. However, as we have been using them twice a year for eleven years, together with some of our English visitors, they understand the requirements and, for a non French speaker, showing them the Pet Passport will get you the service.

Yes. I think I gave them to you, for the map, about two/three years ago.

Interestingly the charge of 11 euros has remained constant over that period. I won't know an up to date price until our return home at the end of June.
