Hi all, we will be staying at the Chateau du Grandspette site near Calais prior to our return to the UK in late May. Is it necessary to pre book a vets appointment or can we just do it on the day?

If we can phone we do, but have sometimes just stopped and the vet has seen Ellie there and then. At the end of the day it's money to them and doesn't take long for the treatment.

Been there regularly and guy speak English, I would make an appointment, he seems to run 15 minute slots and raking in $$$$$ form pet passports and not interest in other pet issues as we found out when Bruno we attacked by another dog on site (that's a BTW tough).

Great site and vet for Pet passport issues.

Our vet charges 29 euros

The vet down Amiens charges 29 euros.. Found near to the ports they charge a lot more. As you have to wait 24 hours before you come back it some times pays to use a vet away from the ports.

Your dead right Bob, but if you a pet passport virgin gandspette is the easiest option.

I think we paid nearly 70 Euro's for each Great Dane (more for big dogs)

Whoops! We paid 29 euros at Orchies, south of Lille, but had our own Drontal or Frontline.

The vet near Gandespette charged us €30 and used the stuff we supplied, we just called in and made an appointment for the following day.He is next to a champion supermarket (I think it was) so real easy park in the supermarkets carpark, he does have a small area for parking for a couple of cars.He is also close enough to walk although there wasnt a footpath down the whole route and it can be quite a busy road mornings and evenings

I'm well confused now as our dog is on Advocate anyway. So do the vets give them an extra dose to come back in the uk?

before your dog can come home a visit to the vet is requirred and the vet has to administer worming treatment and tick and flea treatment then he stamps the dogs passport after writing in the treatment, he has to date and time stamp the entry in the dogs passport. the dog is then allowed to travel home 24hrs after treatment but before 48hrs is up. Dont forget to take a supply of both treatments with you as that makes the vet visit cheaper

this year our dog is on 'advocate' which is a combined treatment for worms and tick and flea but the french vet insisted on a seperate worming tablet dose as well.
