I have been refused insurance on our Eunos Roadster because of our post code, just point blanked refused, others have charged more because I 'tested' the quote by using a very rural post code of a friends, much cheaper than ours.

My post code is A rated , my quote for a 90k Mh fitted with a tracker and an immobiliser /alarm was £1250.00 and £950. 00 ,the AIB quote was the cheapest and that was for a lh drive and 365 day eeuropean cover.

When I moved storage for our Bolero, the quoted insurance premium almost doubled. Won't go into the full story but it turned out to be the postcode - I'd moved from the safest in the country to a high risk area! After much tooing and froing Comfort got the underwriter to acknowledge it was in a gold Cassoa storage site and left the premium as it was.

Its a combination of a London postcode. No accrued no claims discount on a camper and your ages....personally can't wait to move out of london now as retired just waiting for wife to stop working:(

Glad you got sorted in time..... enjoy my old van!:)

(Mwark has bought van I sold two years ago)

Does that mean it'll be back on the market soon?:imoutahere:

Cheeky monkey:) Its a coincidence that chap who bought it originally in late 2013 was on a career break and undertaking a big Euro tour...Mwark seems to be doing the same...

Thanks for the tips all. I'll try AIB. As mentioned, I was using brokers, some of whom apparently specialise in motorhome insurance. I tried safeguard, scenic, one answer, call connection, Adrian flux.

They all asked about my existing no claims and said they'd try to mirror it, but the result was as above. None could tell me the exact reason the quotes were so high just saying it was quite a niche request (surely it isn't).

Where are you keeping it? If it's parked on the road or an open driveway that won't help.

If that's the case it might be worth finding out how much a Cassoa Gold storage site will cost and how much it reduces the quotes. There aren't any very close to you - Camberley or Orpington but it might make a big enough difference to make the inconvenience worth thinking about.

Also try and stick with companies that specialise in motorhomes.

We're with CaravanGuard at the moment - full UK and EU insurance and breakdown cover.

The other one that is meant to be very good is the NFU. You need to contact the Louth branch on 01507 389336. I'm going to be speaking to them when my renewal comes up.
