We're currently chugging around Slovenia (utterly beautiful country!) but in a couple of days we'll be heading west into northern Italy.
We fancy popping into Venice by using one of the camsites or sostas (aires ) to the north of the city and then using our trusty 125cc honda innova to get into Venice
. Happy to stay up to 30kms out and scoot in/out each day.
Any recommendations for cheap (well cheap by Italian standards at least!) sites or aires to the north of Venice please?
Many thanks.

Camping Serrinissimo and catch the bus in they accept ACSI and sell bus tickets which stops at the gate, 2€ last time we did it.
If not plenty of site on Lido Dr Jesilo and catch the water bus much nicer way and drops you by St Marks but more expensive.
Absolutely no point taking the scooter in parking expensive miles away from centre and bike theft especially scooters is rife.

We've stopped a couple of times on sites at the western end of Punta-Sabbioni and took the vaporetti / ferries into town and the other islands.
You'd still need to abandon the 'bike in town, so we didn't even consider using our scooter.

many many years! since I was a kid
bike theft and the pick pocket gangs are part of the culture in Italian cities. the police are so used to it that they dont even bother to investigate any more. "so you got robbed? maybe next time be more careful" is pretty much all the help you will get

Another vote for punta saboni. Only down side is mosquitoes.

Get the vaperetto across, landing at st marks square made me feel like like Daniel Craig in casino royale and is a great way to arrive

We have used this Aree di Sosta (Parking Alighieri) and taken the boat into Venice. Not cheap for a sosta, but nothing in/near Venice is cheap. You can get a short term pass for the boats which is cheaper than paying per trip and covers all the City's boats.

Since May 05 (Ex Tuggers).
Another here for Camping Serenissimo, and catching the bus outside the gate, on the other side of the road. (y)
It's a busy bus there and back, so be prepared to stand all the way. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We visited Venice this year and stayed at Via San Giuliano (camper stop with showers etc 18 euros a night + 3 if electric required ) 200meters from the site you can get a boat into Venice for 10euros return or if you walk a bit further there is a bus into Venice for about 1,5euros

Update: just spent 2 nights at Camping Venezia, just a couple of kms away from the landward end of the long road and rail and tram viaduct linking Venice to the mainland. Nice quiet site, takes ACSI card and with the card the rate was 19 euros per night. But wifi would set you back a further 2 euros per 24 hours. We then scooted into Venice (10 mins each way) several times. There is bus from outside the site into Venice very often through the day at 3 euros return. Fantastic city, but unless you want to spend a fortune on food and drink, take your own in with you. They were asking 12.50 for a coffee in St Marks square ....... our thermos flask was well used instead. The one day pass for all the boat-buses in and around Venice is now 20 euros but a brill way.to get the feel of the place and surrounding islands if you travel on 3 or 4 different routes.
