Years ago I used to listen to BBC radio 1 most days at work.

A bit later I found the music loud and the punk era finished me and I switched to Radio2.

Recently I find that the music on there is now unbearable, but it seems a big jump from there to Classic FM , surely older people listen to that station.

Or commercial stations with ads:Angry:

Is the music getting worse or am I getting old:cry:er

Not old, music nowadays is mostly rubbish. Radio 1 seems to think everyone is at a night club all day long and Radio 2 just plays lift music.
I listen to Radio 4 and Planet Rock. If all else fails I either turn it off or put on Pink Floyd

I copied my entire CD collection to MP3 using iTunes and now have a collection of over 5000 of my favourite artists' tunes that I play in random order on my computer when I'm working. It's like having my own tailor-made radio station without some hideous bloated ego DJ and his cronies interrupting the music with their inane blather.

Now we've regained control over the radio here at Brit Stops Towers (two sons both living away now, so no more dubstep, techno trance, drum and bass anymore) we alternate between Absolute Radio 70s and 60s and Retro Soul Radio for background music most days (internet radio), with the odd foray into more esoteric sounds like World Music, reggae stations or random foreign stations.

In the van on long journeys to shows, it's usually Radio 4 or podcasts, interspersed with playlists from my ipod.

Radio Caroline is still going strong after 50 years of broadcasting! You can only listen via internet or satellite these days alas (www.radiocaroline.co.uk) but they still have their radio ship Ross Revenge, currently moored at Tilbury.

Hardly any ads and none of the ones you hear on other, lesser, stations.

I recently changed to radio 2 when he (workmate) went off site for 5 minutes, and it was a couple of hours before he realised.

I have been a Caroline fan and supporter for many years so forgive me for banging the drum a bit. Caroline is run on a shoestring and is financed by donations from listeners and the minimal advertising. None of the presenters get paid - they do it all because they love the music.
