Mertrux have rung 2 Hymer dealers none in stock, special order from Germany 2 week delivery

MOT expires while we are away and we leave next Tuesday

or thought we were at least :(:(

anybody got any bright ideas, I am not with the motorhome at mo, have to take dealers word for it that they are not just bulb replacements, they are saying they are complete units probably LED's?

Mertrux have confirmed they are made by Jokon, definitely LED and definitely an MOT failure if not working

:(:(

anybody bought any in the UK? really don't want to go through Hymer, both price and timescale

Long shot you could give Brownhills a bell. They still have loads of Hymer stuff on their shelves. I would advise taking one off your van and taking it with you. The other source might be your old mates at Travelworld

Or as someone has just suggested just put a hybrid on and attach with double sided tape.

Will they fail you for this or just give you an advisory to fit asap?

Mertrux have said it will be a fail, but they don't actually do the MOT

But top marks to them, they have been trawling the internet looking for some thing suitable

this seems to be pretty much identical shape, just that mine has a grey rubber surround, the good thing is they are only fitted into the metal skirt, so no possible issues with damp etc when changing

Another thanks to you Ken for sending me to Mertrux, they may not be the cheapest but they have really gone out of their way to help with this (y)(y)

They look like the ones on my swift-they are almost the same , they should be ok to clear the MOT

Just rechecked -my bulb is offset to the centre line but otherwise same shape etc.

If Johnnie Longden have got what you need I am happy to call in tonight on the way home and collect and ship it to you.

thanks ever so much (y)(y)

we are currently hoping the ebay link above are the right ones, I have an engineer working near their site I have diverted him to go and buy some on his way home.

Hopefully will be able to update on here tomorrow with photos, or will be back in blind panic seeking further help (y):)

There's none on ours so don't know how they can be a mot fail.

legal requirement on over sized vehicles I think

not sure where the changeover points come, we are 8m long 5.5T

I was going to say over 3.5T but then in theory anybody changing their gross weight from 3.5 to 3.8 T would then need to add these side repeater lights, never seen that mentioned before

A bulb went on one of my side marker lights just before MOT last week. Put a new bulb in but didn't locate it properly, remembered when I got to the test and was putting my arm under the side panel to locate it when chap came out to drive the van in. Don't bother with that now he said, side markers aren't part of the MOT.

I guess Mertrux are just playing safe, no point taking it off site if it might fail, or their tester uses a different interpretation :)

Although I think they are a legal requirement for vehicles over 6m in length it is not an mot failure for class4 vehicles

delivered to Mertrux, they will fit the 2 that have failed, still no definitive answer on the MOT status, but better to be safe, especially when off to France

The only difference between this and ours I now know is ours have a grey rubber outer round the outside that is part of the light housing not an add on boot, but I doubt it will hardly show. Will post photos when I get it back home (y)

many thanks for the input above, very much appreciated :)(y)

edit - also bought 4 spares, I guess if 2 LED's have failed the others will not be far behind. Slightly odd that they didn't show up as a failed bulb on the dash, although I guess they are not part of the mercedes chassis wiring
