Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
Hi all,

We did touch on this at some length a few months ago and I just want to get it all clear in my mind before continuing.

Regarding the uplating we know just have to send the £282.00 to Svtech to uplate from 3500kgs to 3800kgs, we just want to know in the furture does this have any hidden glitches ie. Mot`s insurance premiums etc etc.

We are certain others will have been down this path any info gratefully accepted.

And does it devalue your van because folk with a 3500 licence can't drive it ??

No,
You just simply charge/negotiate, £282 in to the price to downplate it.

As for insurance etc, no I have had no issues whatsoever , and I actually inofrmed them ::bigsmile:

As above.

The only downsides that have affected us so far are:

Some places have a limit of 3.5tonnes in town (saw most of these in France)
Different speed limits apply in different countries
An occasional campsite will not want you on in case you damage the grass
Not really a downside but - in Switzerland you need to fill out a form, pay your money and get it stamped up at the border, instead of just buying a vignette (which you can buy online in advance).

There may be others but I can't put my finger on any at the moment. Oh I've just remembered - in France you need speed stickers (80, 100, 110) on the back LH side, 150mm in diameter, black numbers on white background.
