Hi all

Hope somebody can help please.

Our motor home has started to sound a continuous "warning beep". I have tried the net and the handbooks but to no avail ! Here are the details, would be very grateful if somebody could help.

1. It only comes on when the engine is running, not even when the ignition is turned on.

2. It is coming from a dedicated "speaker" mounted in the boxing around the water pump under the dinette table.

3. It has a reasonable thickness blue and brown cable going into, which is jointed and then runs towards the rear of the vehicle in a concealed loom.

4. We do not have an electric step.

Very Frustrating :helpsos:

Thanks

Ian

Even though your step is not electrically operated, it may have a "step out" warning buzzer. Check around the step for a micro switch, it may be clogged up with road dirt and needs cleaning.

Brisey.

sounds like an indicators buzzer for when towing. It could be stuck on for some reason, maybe a short circuit.

Hi

Thanks for replies so far :thumb:

We don't have any moving step at all.

I get the handbrake warning alarm quite a bit as it needs to be pushed RIGHT down.

Don't have a towing socket, but that would be the nearest, will crawl under tomorrow.

Thanks

That says "charging" to me, so put a voltmeter on the hab battery.

The other thing under those conditions is the fridge.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Do you have a garage door ? If ours isn't shut properly that will buzz like this.

I think it could be something to do with the charger/ state of battery.

Just checking around and the control panel is showing 1 led for battery level.

We have just got back from 10 days away, but had EHU.

Nothing wrong with "engine" battery.

Would a faulty battery give these symptoms, or something deeper.

We have a split solar charger also.

Thanks

Pass.

Your description matched the split charge relay cutting in but apart from that it's detective work with a voltmeter needed now.

do you have a window sensor, we had one on the side window of the dinette on our Carioca, it was to warn that the passenger had released a window catch when engine running.

it is a black plastic block on the side of the window

Interesting, when we purchased the van (private sale) the seller told me it was linked to the water heater so the heater would cut out if the window was open, so as to prevent fumes from the nearby exhaust vent entering the van.

Will look at that out of interest. (not linked to my buzzer noise though)

Thanks

Ian

Garage unable to look at motorhome until after the weekend (no surprise there).

Did some more investigation.

Engine running
Alarm sounding
Green light on 12v indicator on fridge
Remove 20a fuse supplying fridge and the alarm stops (starts when replaced)

Will survive for the weekend and get it looked at after the weekend.

I know I'm dragging something ol dup, but did you ever goes to the bottom of this. We've just bought a 2004 Carioca 656 and have the same issue.

A light buzzing / warning sound when the engine is running, though I think its coming from the electric control panel above the door ( may be wrong)

the red leisure battery light is also on, but the battery is known to be good.

I am assuming that the battery light is an issue with the system reading voltage, but that I can live with. What I can't is the buzzing when driving... I am hoping not linked...

Is it because you have the hab power on whilst engine is running, and it thinks this shouldn’t be so.

I don't think so, but that could be a fair point. I cannot find the main had power kill switch aside from the button on the control panel.

We have twice had a buzzing problem. A continuous beeping.
Cause both times was water penetration into a plastic box underneath the mh containing the electronic gubbins for the tow bar electrics, this in spite of it being theoretically a waterproof box. The cure attempted the second time was to drill a small drain hole in the bottom. Time will tell whether it works.

Ahh, I'll look at that. I have traced the buzzing to down by the water heater / pump. I found a white 3 open plug, when I unplugged this the buzzing stopped. I could not see anything obvious that this disconnected and the wires did have a bit of an aftermarket feel about them...
