We really wanted to tour Scotland over the next 3 weeks, however the weather/road conditions at the moment have forced a rethink. We are thinking of a few days Devon/Cornwall then starting to travel north if weather improves. Maybe Wales > Lakes > Scotland. Any recommendations for overnight sites in South West would be greatly appreciated, preferably coastal and we will call in on the Eden Project.
Hopefully if weather does improve we would update thread with request for site recommendations going north.
Having just watched Countryfile weather forecast we hope to set off Tuesday.
Thanks in anticipation.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

South West over the next 3 weeks, thats a little harder than in the season, lots of places closed..

Ok, lets start from Lands End and head North...

1/ Layby at Marazion (nr Penzance) overlooking St Michaels Mounts - fabulous and free.
2/ Pentewen Sands (nr StAustell) right on the beach and nr to Eden
3/ Tintagel Headland camping site, 2 mins from village and King Arthurs castle
4/ Damage Barton Mortehoe (nr Woolacombe) I would normally stay at Incledon Farm camp site in this North Devon area but its not open until Easter.
5/ Lynton/Lynmouth sun lynn camping looked pretty good
6/ Taunton stay at Cornish Farm (see sheppy's cider and West Somerset Railway etc etc)
7/ Lyme Regis on the Jurrasic coast not sure about a site

So start at Lands End, head into Penzance and Marazion
Onto Pentewan at St Austell then Eden
Head North to Tintagel
Follow the Atlantic Highway to Barnstaple then onto Mortehoe on the coast road (stop at Braunton for the worlds best fish and chips at Squires)
Onto Lynton and Lymouth go on the furnicular railway between the two
Then around the Exmoor coast to Minehead and along the quantock hills to Taunton.
Head South to Lyme Regis on the Jurrasic coast and search for fossils (or retired people)
Head along the south coast to Corfe and Studland...

Thats what I would do.....

Have a great time down here... :thumb:

If you want to do the Eden Project then Doubletrees Farm Camp Site is your best bet - it's at St Blazey Gate - east of St Austell. 20 mins walk from the Eden Project.
Plus point is that if you walk into the Eden Project you get a discount on your entrance fee!:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Doubletrees is a lovely site run by a lovely local family - good facilities too! Great views over St Austell Bay!:Smile:

Thankyou funsters for your replies. We will take all information on board.Always easier to make a choice when you have some input from people who have experience of sites and places.
Did read on the Eden Project website about savings for walkers and cyclists, so will certainly keep that in mind.
Thanks
Graham
