We are still very new to Motorhoming, and purchased our first MH, a Burstner Marano, in June. This model has a rear U shaped lounge, which can be used either as two singles, or a very large double with the use of the free standing table and an additional similar thickness panel.

Now, we have tried it as two singles, and also as a double, and frankly, prefer the space, comfort and "togetherness" (all say AHHHH) of a double.

But we find it cumbersome to install the table and associated panel to achieve this, and wonder if anyone has experience or indeed comments about installing "slats" as an alternative.

The last touring caravan we owned (over 10 years ago) had slats connected by lightweight webbing, both as the support for the seating, and sliding to make the double, and found it relatively quick and easy to install and put away. Obviously, we still had the cushion repositioning to do.

We do like the space that a U Shaped lounge gives us.

Your thoughts please.

Hi, our last van was the Marano t595. We took the legs off the table to make things easier and carried a lightweight folding table to eat off. Some time ago we met another couple with the same van who had slats made for the bed, So yes it is possible.
