Suggest you check the make of your tyres, then check axle weights on a public weighbridge in normal running order. Then check the tyre makers web site for recommendations.

Our motorhome had a very harsh ride as delivered. Following the above advice led to us reducing the tyre pressures from approx 80psi all round to 52psi front and 56psi rear giving a much improved ride.

We can only assume that the dealer had the tyres pumped up high in storage to reduce flat spots developing and failed to reduce them on PDI.

It depends entirely on the make of tyre. Continental give pressures based on axle weight but most other tyre manufacturers will tell you to just look in the vehicle handbook or a sticker on a door panel.
The max figure on the tyre is just, the maximum it should be inflated to. If you don't have Contis I suggest just follow the advice on the sticker - 43psi from what you say.
