I purchased a cheap Digital pressure gauge from Halfrauds and checked it out against the calibrated gauge we have at work and it was spot on. I then checked the gauge in the cheapo inflator from Lidl and it was certainly within acceptable limits.

So Halfords £8.99 or there-a-bouts

then when I was happy with my pressures I wound on Jim's tyre monitors, jobs a good-un.

Go digital, there's no comparison. I have a Maplins 12volt tyre inflater and check mine at home at my leisure, beats queuing up at busy garages every time.

Go to justoffbase.co.uk and put in search TST-PG981
That should show you a suitable model.
My one covers 0/100 psi in 0.5psi garduations.

Not sure if she is still there as I bought my one in 2003 but there was a most helpful contact called Tina Clifford
