Hi,can someone explain to me the difference between Type-Approved & none Type-Approved towballs, we have a 2013 AT Apache 634. Thanks

Tow bars for car and light commercials are type approved ones now, to stop you getting homemade bodge ups and rip offs supposedly, but a properly welded one will still do the job but be illegal and insurance nullifying.. I do not think there is type approval YET on towbars for heavier vehicle such as heavy vans and MHs there are companies which will make CUSTOM made bars as indeed they must be because of the different shapes and sizes needed.. Type approval companies will attach a metal plate to the bar giving the tested weights and carrying capacity, and the approval authority and number.
