Use an American RV TV & Freeview Box

You have an alternate path if you are willing to import a TV from the USA.

Currently you can obtain 12v flatscreen Digital RV TV's in the US upto 26inch (I also believe you can get 32" sets),

The tuner is of no value to you. However if you attach a Freeview box (I believe Maplins sell one which is 12V) you can output through the HDMI socket to the TV. This will then give you UK broadcast TV. Obviously Analogue TV would not be available.

6 years + 5 years in boat before that
Actually there is another way, but I don't think its what you are looking:---

In the boating industry there was a company selling alternators that had been rewound to give 240v ac, I have no recent information about them but they used to show up at the Wembley Boat show that held just after Christmas.
