I'm trying to get hold of a piece of stainless steel tubing, 300mm by 2mm wall, 300mm is the ID so 304mm is the true OD.

It comes in 6metre lengths, but I only need about 1 metre of it.

Material can be 304 or 316.

If anyone knows of an offcut sitting on the shelf, give me a shout, please. Not looking for a freebee, happy to pay for it.

It's for a cooling tank on one of our diesel show engines, the one we have on there has split along a rusty seam and it's too thin to weld up.

Thanks,

Peter

I've been looking on the web, and also looked at fabrication, but not many want to seam weld a metre long tube seam.

Thanks for the replies.

Boiler flue pipe sounds about right and it comes in different lengths.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Boiler flue pipe is very thin wall and wouldn't take the stresses of being full of water and shaken about, the application is a cooling water tank.

Steel stockholders only want to sell a length, usually 6 metres, which is expensive at £60 a metre plus VAT and delivery, I will give BDE a call just to confirm though.

I don't need 2mm wall, 16g or 1.5mm would be fine, it's just that 300mm X 2mm is a standard tube size and more likely to be found as an offcut.

Priden in Wisbech are involved with the food industry making stuff for them also truck stuff like blowers for animal food. They might be worth a ring.

Those that I contacted through their websites haven't responded, but I have contacted a company near Leicester who think they have a piece becoming available, I'll wait and see if that comes to fruition before pushing further.

Thanks for asking.
