@ stephen harwood, Are you sure it is draining from the dump valve and not coming out of the the relief valve, the clear plastic pipe.

There's a "Trump dump" valve? Don't tell the Democrats.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Commiserations with the leak. I know how annoying such troubles can be. :)

With a red top that is the older electric one I assume then you have C6002, (round vertical mounted boiler) as said probably the relief valve at the top of the boiler. It is a red T piece it has a one way valve that lets air out when filling there will be a drain pipe from it going out under the van, if water is coming out there that's your problem.

Leisure Shop Direct stock them.

Could be the auto drain pipe is bunged up with calcium deposits inside and not sealing properly and If it's the old electric type it will not close if there is no power going to it ( dead battery, poor connection or perhaps a fuse blown.

Sounds like my Alde one. There could be a second yellow valve next to it that you twist to open or closed. If there is, is that still open?

Edit - posts crossed. Photos do not look like my Alde.

Which part are on about if it's
IMG_2063.JPG

Then as stated it has a non return valve in it, mine was constantly dripping, I removed it to check it and found mine must of had a part broken as I could find anything that shut the flow off, maybe an "o" ring perished. Anyway when refitting I split mine and had to get another from Truma, a slight different design non return valve and pipe angle but it works now.

I assume it is the boiler drain and not the fresh water tank drain that's been left open?

If you go beyond the horizontal position it will still let water out.
As pops has said
If we pushed ours back down after draining it would go slightly past the closed position this letting water past the valve

@Lenny HB Hit the nail on the head, There is a very crude non return valve in the "red thingee" even if you drain for the winter, if there is just a tiny bit of water that freezes in there it will push the N/R/valve the other way
Best to cover Boiler with a blanket or something similar just in case of frost
Advisable if you cover your water pump too, no matter how thorough you are draining, there is always water in your filter, (the little clear plastic thingee on the end of your pump) If this freezes it can crack the filter housing.

You can screw it off quite easily though to ensure it drains any residual water out.

Was it too cold to close it , the button will not engage if the temperature is below 4 degrees ???? I think.
I had to stick my hot air blower into the compartment to shut mine. Warm it turn the knob sideways and push the button. It is a bit of a paff if I am getting ready to go somewhere in Winter and want the water in it.
