Does anyone out there tow a trike on the back of their motorhome ? Any help or advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

If you tow one it will have to be on a trailer...

Even though it will be well under the 750kl..

It has brakes fitted, and if it has any that are on the road they must work in tandem with your M.Home...:(

Front wheel off the ground = Illegal. as the back wheels will have brakes which must work when your brakes on the M.home are activated.. :(

Sorry no way round the law... (As far as I know)

you can easily sort out an electric solenoid to pull the foot brake . using the brake lights and a relay. might need a bracket made to carry the bits .

I think the police would turn a blind eye, But if you have an accident, they would be down on you like a ton of bricks... plus the insurance implications..

I always put mine in a trailer..

I tow mine on a trailer but two friends of mine tow them on the ground one with all three wheel on a bar and the other with front wheel in a pocket bolted to van.. as far as I understand if three wheels on road then comes under the steerable front wheel four wheel trailer laws if two wheels on road the normal trailer rules apply. Its a very grey area and none of the authorities I have approached seem to know for certain.

Regardless of how many wheels are on the road it needs operational brakes.

The law requires any braked wheels need to operate regardless of weight.

At the end the day it's your choice I have looked into this in detail and as they say on here if it's fitted with brakes the brakes must work

I tow a rewaco hs4 with the front wheel of ground on a tow frame that locks the steering and allowes the articulation on the tow ball no brakes working
If I get pulled by plod so be it then I will come up with something else
Plus most of the plod are proberbly not clued up any way and it would end being vosa that nailed me

So till I get pulled bugger em for now
I will post some pics of frame when I get home

Thanks to all. Not as straight forward as I thought. Looks like it is going to be a trailer. Glad I asked. Much appreciated.

The only reason i don't use a trailer is it takes up too much room on site (n)
Some site have spaces that are small and not enough room to have a van trike and trailer on the allocated pitch

A lot of sites have enough room for a car and caravan, like wise with a motor home and small trailer..

I used to put the trike as with a car in the trailer on the same plot if tight for room.. (y)

a simple t shaped trailer can be made that should almost disapear under the m,home when on a site . just poke the front end under and drive ,reverse over it .

drop the wheels off and shove it right under the motorhome
thats a good idea .
simple u channel as the T frame . need some triangulation supports but not much.
could be made in minutes . mind new trailer pain to do . better build an old one . ha ha . nod nod .

I was told when I was towing mine it had to be on a trailer because it was an automatic... Don't know if that of interest or help. Sorry photo won't download but above is the link.

Yes, Peter it was loved. It was a Boom trike.

That was the reason I was told I couldn't just use an A frame or a Swan tower.
