Hi all.

I have 2 x 100ah batteries wired in series and a CTEK Multi XS 7000 charger which according to the instructions is rated "For lead - acid batteries 14 - 225ah"

I don't really want to disconnect the batteries so am proposing to put the charger onto one of them and leave it to trickle over the winter.

Does anyone with technical knowledge of electrics see a problem with this please?

No need to disconnect the battery terminals
Suitable for all types of 12v lead-acid batteries (inc GEL & AGM)
Charges batteries up to 150Ah & conditions larger batteries up to 225Ah
Fully automatic - switches to conditioning mode after the initial charge
Unique 12V 'supply mode' - saves in-car electronic settings
Can be left connected for months - ideal for occasional-use vehicles
Simple 'plug n play' operation - no settings to make
Compact rugged design - water splash resistant & dust-proof
Can be left connected for months

Even so i'd check the electrolytic levels once or twice during this period and in particular BEFORE you start charging :thumb:

Hi all.

I trust that the batteries are wired in Parallel i.e. +ve to +ve and -ve to -ve and not in series as you say or you will have a 24v 200 ah battery bank and not a 12v 200ah one

Sorry - not very well up on vehicle electrics. They must be in parallel. They were done by a dealer to give me extra capacity when off hook up. I'm just preparing to lay the van up for winter months and do not really want to disconnect it all if that is not necessary.

Many thanks for your replies.

obviously a typo on your part.

series = same amps/twice the volts

parallel = same volts/twice the amps
