Trickle charging batteries through winter - technical query (1 Viewer)

Hi all.

I have 2 x 100ah batteries wired in series and a CTEK Multi XS 7000 charger which according to the instructions is rated "For lead - acid batteries 14 - 225ah"

I don't really want to disconnect the batteries so am proposing to put the charger onto one of them and leave it to trickle over the winter.

Does anyone with technical knowledge of electrics see a problem with this please?

Err........do you mean series (24v) or meant parallel (12V)? not really helping you i guess but I am a little curious now

I think you mean parallel not series as that would be 24 volts

I trust that the batteries are wired in Parallel i.e. +ve to +ve and -ve to -ve and not in series as you say or you will have a 24v 200 ah battery bank and not a 12v 200ah one

Sorry - not very well up on vehicle electrics. They must be in parallel. They were done by a dealer to give me extra capacity when off hook up. I'm just preparing to lay the van up for winter months and do not really want to disconnect it all if that is not necessary.

obviously a typo on your part.

series = same amps/twice the volts

parallel = same volts/twice the amps

I on the other hand, just looked up his charger and its a 12 V:Cool:
So you all loose three points for not thinking out of the box
