A Woosh bang
I've never found dumping and cleaning a toilet cassette a pleasant task... particularly on sites with poor facilities.. ie just a hole with a grid and a tap.. so I'd gladly give it a try.. especially if the young lady is showing me the ropes..

When the first automatic clothes washing machine hit the shops, I recall my mum saying she wouldn't trust it.. much better by hand ..

I'm confused, are you supposed to empty them then? I guess that's what the staining down the side of the van is! I thought it was self cleaning. :Eeek:

I've never had a problem with emptying the cassette or cleaning it, especially since we started using bio washing liquid - as I posted Broken Link Removed about 7 weeks ago.

Have you seen the state of portable toilets after a few hrs use, the ground wont be fit to walk on around the machine after a week or two's use, that table is a disaster waiting to happen and the demo tank was only part full, just wait for the Tsunami splash backs from a full un when the cap comes off:LOL:

You've still got to take the cap off, and thus get a nostril full of "sweet aroma" :)
Sorry, this did make me laugh! Reminded me of an incident whilst we were on holiday this year. Both my wife and I are early risers, so when we are up and about (usually about 7 in the morning) wife will entertain daughter, or put the telly on whilst I busy myself 'servicing' the van for the coming day, thus avoiding a queue for the chemical toilet point.
Anyway, we are on a site in Italy as it happens, and I am off out the door, and my daughter demands to know where I am going, and can she come as well? So anyway, there we are at the chemical toilet point, I take the cap off, to which my daughter screams "EEEEW! it smells like poo and wee!" After I have managed to stop laughing I inform her "That's because it is poo and wee!" she ran back to the van at that point!

Pity the poor sod who is locked in side the "machine" beavering away when you put the cassette in. Perhaps this is what George meant when he said we need to work like the Chinese?
Better than working at the car wash perhaps?
I can foresee some nasty dribbles appearing on the machine where the cap screws on.
I wonder if there is a bigger machine that cleans this one?
Will it leave a "grey water" type trail as it drives away?
Saw a bloke drop a cassette off his bike, the contents was all over the road, not just liquids !

This machine, in its trailer, was by the reception area for the motorhome parking at Dusseldorf. All the side panels were removed from the cleaner to enable people to see what was going on. It seemed to do a good job of the cleaning, except for the cap still being a bit stained.

I might be tempted to use a facility like that about once a year, but not for every emptying.

Cairnsmill Caravan site in St Andrews has one of these machines installed. Don't know if it is a Thetford machine and have not tried it yet, but as this is a private park I can't see them putting it in if they don't see a market for it.

I did a job I Glasgow once when I worked as a diver , I spent two months working on a sewer ,yes folks I've swam in the stuff , I won't go into detail you can use your imagination for that. Guess thetford must have a team of midget divers in every machine

I wonder how it works?? Do Thetford employ a midget to climb inside with a brillo pad?? On second thoughts, could be. Plenty of tight little people in Norfolk..........(y)

..........with more fingers (webbed) and toes than most, making it easy for them to do the cleaning

At £3 a go I can really see it catching on as in France if it's not free they chuck it anywhere they won't even pay a euro to empty but perhaps us englaise are richer, it's nice here in Colmar anyway and a lovely aire by the marina with free emptying
