Now reached the grand old age of 70 and looking for travel insurance. Anyone know of any good deals, we normally go to Europe for 2 months at a time?

Try your Bank they have special accounts that include travel nsurance, we are just arranging to have one and it is cheaper than our last insurers, even including the age limit excess and any health problems.we travel abroad a couple of times a year in our MH , as well as other trips abroad.

I've got cover with my bank and after watching Martin Lewis on the telly checked it out and for travel, breakdown cover, phone cover, key cover they can't be touched for £12.99 a month.

Don't bother, just shoot yourself, you may as well, all the insurance companies will rip you off, especially if you have medical history, according to them we are only fit for the scrapheap after 65, and I'm among them.

We have a similar account with our bank which works well for us. One thing we did spot with the insurance is that it is only for 30 or 31 days max each trip. It is possible to get this extended, but then the price for this extension is quite expensive. Next time we have a trip that exceeds this limit I will investigate single trip policies, otherwise I'll keep to trips of 30 days or less.

Cheers

Trevor

Within the Bank account we extended the trips to 35 days didn't make much difference in cost, however, of course if it is a lot longer It may cost a lot as you say, but we still save over £200 with our account against the previous brokers charge.

Not true. Lloyds have a list of medical ailments that you can have and still be covered. In my case type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure are covered and I have that in writing.

I am with Lloyds as well, formerly TSB. they would not even cover me worldwide, no chance, and Europe was horrendously expensive, like £700+, a big hike when I reached 65, and with no other medical conditions than I have had since 1993.
I offered to have a independant medical, even offered to pay for it, they weren't interested. My wife still uses the same policy, she is younger than me, and with no medical problems apart from a hip replacement in 2010.
