Hi Guys, long time no see....

Was wondering....we toying with the idea of towing a little car (e.g. Ford Streetka?) on the back of the motorhome. Hubby has had licence over 26years, mine 15years. There is no towbar fitted at the moment. What do we need to know requiring the legalities of towing etc??
We have Fiat Ducato 1.9tdi 1995.
We are sure there is loads of advice out there for us so please hit us with it guys.

Thank You x

hello there, not sure of all the info you will need but the very least will be gross vehicle weight of both tow vehicle and the one you intend to tow plus the weight of trailer etc, the gross train weight of the tow vehicle, your hubby should have the entitlement to tow on his licience but you might be restricted to a total combined weight of 3500 kg depending on test pass date ( rules changed around 1996 /97)...........Mark

Towing on a trailer keeps you on the legal side of the law without doubt.

towing on an A frame is tolerated in the UK but Europe can be different, especially Spain.

are A frames legal ?...a very grey area.

sounds like you both are OK to tow as far as licence categories are concerned providing you have no medical restrictions and YOU passed pre january '97...Hubby is definitely OK.

your Ducato should have sufficient train weight for towing a KA either on a trailer or an A frame.

1.9ltr may be a little underpowered though, resulting in a lot of gear changing to maintain speed.
