Towbar (1 Viewer)

I'm currently sitting in a hotel room in the Dominican Republic and have just managed to log in witn a dodgy internet connection.
I'm conscious of weights for my Autotrail trackers eks. It has a tow bar fitted so how much is it that contributing to my weight?. I had been planning to add a cycle tack to it but would it be better to remove it and replace with a fiamma rack?

@Bognor Saint, A towball mounted cycle rack is a lot more user friendly IMO, as it is a lot lower down and therefore easier to load/unload the bike, also less strain on the rear panel of the MH. However if weight is a serious concern I can only suggest you put it on a weighbridge and then decide if the remaining payload is sufficient for your needs.

As they differ so much in design and construction there simply is no single answer for you
best I can give from experience fitting them 25-35 kg would be a ball park figure
I have removed a DIY one that was a two man lift

30kg on the rear of the van can give a load on the back axle of 40kg. it depends on the rear overhang behind the back axle

As already said depends on the make of towbar, I've seen some that look like 2 towbars, (I think PWS make) and then some are less involved.

Ours on the Hobby was made by the same company that built the Forth rail bridge I'm sure.

I have not seen a manufacturers label but I will have a closer look and that would help with specs.
I must visit a weighbridge soon.

mine is 63 kgs but it goes a LONG way forwards to the main chassis, very long extension arms.

I was advised by the maker that mine weighed 35kg for my Autotrail tracker FB.
