hi.

any of you folk use or have used a tow bar mounted rack on the back of your motorhome.

the one on the van we are getting is way to high for us to use as we have leccy bikes

are they strong and safe enough .

cheers

We have 2 leccy bikes on a montblonck tow bar bike rack, and is fine , we use it on a Murvi and it tilts backwards with bikes on which is useful to use the rear doors,I like the at atera stride ones, but far to much for the times I put the bikes on

Should be fine so long as you keep within the max loading weight for the rack and the towbar ... also your back axle loading.

I have a 2/3 bike Thule towbar rack which in it self is quite heavy (heavier than Fiamma type alloy rack) ... I have only test fitted it so far and it complies with weight of our electric bikes and towbar nose weight but I still need to put it on a weighbridge fully loaded to check rear axle.

We have just bought one of these.

We saw them for sale at Malvern for £300.

Looked on eBay and found an unused one from a private seller for £220 - which we bought.

The primary attraction for us is being able to fold it up, pop it in its storage bag and tuck away in the garage.

Takes two long wheelbase electric bikes.

Westphalia 2 bike rack, 2 bikes one very heavy, all round France and Scotland no problems. Rock solid, 60kg rated i think, you can also get a storage box for it. Easy to use, everything lockable, and folds up when not in use.

We looked at loads, tried a Bakrak but did like it as rattled and moved too much.

Chose the Westphalia as when we tried them out they were the easiest to use. NEC in Oct has alot on display and you can get hands on. Like @Mousy we shopped around and got a good deal.
