Been looking at the town of Tournus just north of Macon on the banks of the Saone. have been to the area before but not this town which looks quite interesting.

have done the usual google searches but has anyone got first hand experience of the place? would be interested in any comments on the place.:thumb:

Have been responsible for many headaches in the UK as I used to load wine from that region years ago. It is a very nice area of France with many small villages on the rivers edge. They are very proud of the food in the region and many say its some of the best in France. When are you thinking of going.

Since 1975 on and off.
Stayed on 'Camping de Tournus' Sept 2011. Very nice site ran by Dutch couple, only 1 km from motorway ,
Easy walk long the river into town where we had meal and walk round, lovely feel to the town and interesting buildings.
A bit vague but only stayed one night. Would consider staying longer in the future.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

probably mid May but travel around for about 5 / 6 weeks ... stay in any place dependant on whats interesting and the weather:thumb:
