So, only two replies so far and two different experiences from C&CC.

We have recently been considering joining the CCC but after watching this thread with interest and especially that unlike the CC, we hear that you are allocated a pitch of their choice, I think we will not bother. The cc usually give you choice of any pitches that are vacant, the cc&c escort you to your allocated pitch.

There's usually always a launch fee, can be up to a tenner for each kayak on some lakes. Some charge a fairer few squids. If you're lucky can put in somewhere quiet and unmanned, but you usually get spotted on the water
On each occasion that I have been to c&cc sites which is frequent ,I have been shown a map showing what's available and then escorted to the pitch of my choice.but then again I don't go in high seasons ..Roy

How can you tell if the site is owned by the cc&c our privately owned. Would be good to know for future reference, thanks.I think you will find that Ravenglass is not owned by the ccc but is privately owned similar to cc much sites.

Why do you have to pay to launch a canoe???? You just plop it in the water, not like a motor boat etc where you need a ramp ... I am obviously missing something here!
We were booked into Luss for two nights but left after one as we couldn't sleep for the dreadful road noise! We had 5 weeks in scotland and lomond campsites were the worst and luss was one ,warden was helpfull though ,and we booked 6 months in advance pitch too small for starters.and so noisey we bought ear plugs and this was start of holiday ,the other was on way back to somerset

As they say nothing in life is free, everything has a cost now daysI agree a charge for launching a canoe is laughable ( or not).
I know it's naive of me but when we started canoeing the broads I was shocked that we had to license it. As motor boats pollute the water and create bank eroding wash, I'd wrongly assumed that a canoe/rowing boat would be exempt so as to encourage non motor craft.

In the same way that all caravanners do?............... we had the car with us as well, they let us park that on the pitch next to the MoHo..................
On this C&CC site they will give you a choice of pitches depending on what's available and I have seen the wardens showing people different pitches and letting the customer decide, but don't even think of trying to change if you change your mind .Enlighten me people.
I rarely use pukka sites, mostly certificated ones and aires.
What is the usual way you get to your pitch on CC and C&CC sites - choose where you want to pitch or be allocated one? If it's allocation - why? If pitches can't be reserved, which I hear is the case, why not first come first to choose?
Is the same system used on all Club sites or is it left to the friendly warders to decide if it's allocation or choice?
I don't believe I'd be very happy to be told to "park there" - in fact I'd be inclined to ignore that "instruction" and find a pitch that suits me.
Maybe that's why I don't visit such formal and regulated places.

It has in a very small way Bumble ,I would have liked to have watched a little of the Olympics but the sun is shining and the local pubs serve some very nice beer . We would haved moved onto another site but thought I have paid £150 to stay here so we stopped (tight or what)lolSuch a shame when things like this happen. It wouldn't be so bad if they explained why and showed a genuine interest in your request. Four hours seems an awful long time. Hope it doesn't spoil your holiday.

Sorry I've been so long, it used to say in the big sites book but that has now been omitted. I do know that Loch Ness shores, Treversal notts, Bellingham near Keilder water, Eskdale Cumbria, the site on Skye are all what they call a franchised sites. If I can find anymore I'll let you know.

Hi ,I contacted the head office by email they acknowledged my complaint and told me they would get back to me within 5 working days (today) but I also got an email saying my review of the site was not really suitable to put on their web site lolHaven't seen the outcome from OP when he was contacting head office or have I missed it?
