How do people top up their Caxton card securely other than texting.
I will only have WI fi as I haven't yet arranged anything else for our three month trip through France
I intend transferring money to the dedicated bank account but I am afraid of identity theft and my account cleared out by some scammer.

We topped ours up in France using wifi and online banking. There was no problem at all. The security set up on caxton seems good to me. You can always change passwords etc. frequently (after each transaction if you like) if you are really worried about it.

Not long enough!
caxton card

Just top up a couple of hundred euros at a time.
I think it's a well used card, and haven't heard if anything dodgy happening:)

Where are you at the mo?

What's the advantage of a Caxton card over normal visa or debit card
Never heard of them so I am proberbly missing the oblivious ?

Obvious

Here, have a read Caxtonfx Currency cards.

IMHO its all down to exchange rates and not paying for transactions.

Still in the uk waiting till 11 march to get a few things done on the van and then we are off on a jaunt around France for 3 months ferry booked for 25th march return 24th June, just have to get insurance sorted now.
I have been looking at your posts from the Morocco thread well jel I can tell you.
Not worried about the caxton being unsafe( they can only get whats on the card anyway) just that my back account might get emptied plus the overdraft facility I have by some scammer if I use wi fi to do it.
Havent looked at web access abroad yet but vodafone and 3 charge 69p per MB not sure how much that would give me on mobile, wouldnt even try it on PC as I know they use a lot.
Anyone know the answer to that?
All replies gratefully received!!!

It's probably a very very small risk that you are taking but if the WiFi is not secure what you are doing is something like standing across the town square and shouting to a phone at the other side "my password is xxxx my card code is yyy transfer 1000 and while you are at it change my password to ZZZZZ" all the time hoping no-one can hear you.

I'm typing this on a local WiFi provider in Spain, I've no idea who could be looking at this data so I would not go anywhere near a bank, though I had to take the risk using a CC with little in it to purchase a month's usage.

Texting Caxton should be much more secure.
