Three weeks today we will be setting of for a three week holiday, chunnel is booked, all we need to decide now is which direction to head in, at the moment its either: Annecy & the Italian lakes, the Perpignan area or, around Arcachon. We would like to stay on a nice site with access to restaurants etc for probably 5/7 nights, the rest of the time we would use a combination of sites, aires and France Passion. We travel with two small dogs so would like to avoid extreme heat, would also prefer to be near dog friendly beaches if possible. We would welcome all recommendations.

Thanks

If you get down to Arcachon, I can recommend www.camping-lacigale-ares.com ..... we stayed there for a while last year, good pitches with plenty of shade, pool, restaurant and great owners .... short walk to the village (Ares) and the Arcachon Basin and a small fishing port a little further along with atmospheric little bar/restaurant.

I have stayed at Camping Europa by Lake Annecy, which is a nice site. Driving into Annecy was a nightmare although that was August, however you can get a bus or river bus.

Camping La Quercia on Lake Garda in Lazise is excellent site with great food and right on the lake.

If your into lakes you could also try Interlaken, which is a great location and good to explore from. However Switzerland can be hugely expensive when your there, so go food / booze shopping before crossing the border.
