Has anyone got a fiat with the built in tomtom? If so can you tell me if you can load third party points of interest and their associated bitmap images onto them please?I have asked both tomtom and fiat but have not had a reply, not a good sign! Also can these units receive live services like HD traffic?

We have a 2016 model it uses a 5 inch uconnect radio satnav. No you can't get live traffic. You can on the 7 inch if you can get it upgraded. You can add poi's.
Ours came with old map data, but you do get a 3 month upgrade to lastest maps option from Tomtom.
Use Tomtom home to upgrade

However, look forward to many happy trips down lanes and routes that cars would find a little tight.

Not impressed.First journey from the dealer it took me to a bridge with a 3 ton maximum limit.I haven't managed to add any third party POIS either.Could anyone who has managed to do this please tell me how?

What's the exact model of the TomTom system you have built in to the cab?

I don't think any TomTom allows bitmap icon downloads but some will accept third party POIs.

Funny coincidence but from today version 17.1 firmware allows poi icons to be shown on the map view whilst driving. You can only choose from generic icons bit at least it's better than nothing.

I have tried to load poi on the uconnect tom tom without success. I did start a thread here somewhere and didn't find anyone who had.

Just tried a download on the uconnect 5inch, although there is an update for the Tomtom home app, There is no update for the fiat uconnect.
Version 17.1 update seems to be for standalone Tomtom's

After trying this Tomtom app for a while now I have concluded it is rubbish. No poi management of any kind a n no facility to enter vehicle dimensions or any upgrade which will allow this.

We are still using our Garmin which has lifetime map updates. Only occasionally use the inbuilt TomTom when hubby using the Garmin for ongoing directions and I want to set a new course or look up a supermarket. Have to be careful to mute one though! Sometimes can be useful to have the Tom Tom on but showing position only as it shows junction layouts differently.

Our new to us car, has an inbuilt satnav and I haven't yet determined the base software. It is very difficult to use as have to use a sort of remote joystick . Many more steps required to set a destination and get going.
They are useful things but I still like a good map on my knee!

The general consensus is that this sat nav in any U-connect radio is poor at best. I've talked to Fiat in Milan and the UK and 3 different dealers and got nowhere. I now rely on aGarmin can't remember the model but you can input vehicle size and weight. The Fiat installation is completely useless.

I concur.I use a Garmin Camper 770.Not Perfect but far superior to the waste of space in the dash. Also trying out copilot truck HD Europe, running side by side with the Garmin.I will post my unbiased opinion on both units after navigating the Italian Lakes.
