They're all crooks. Updated maps should be free until your device is obsolete. You also have no idea what you are getting for the update fee in real terms. They should make their money out of selling new devices only.

Agreed but if you have a TomTom and it has outdated maps, you can either get another device or update them for the above mentioned prices.

Tomtom have map updates 4 times a year, but they still seem to be out of date re new roads. I do wonder what the actual changes in these updates are. The built in satnav in my car is using 2012 maps and is just as good, after all most roads have been the same for many years.

Yes I understand but the last time I updated Tomtom maps I never knew what I'd actually got in real changes and driving through France it said I was in a field for about 10 miles  It's a con.
I have 2014 europe maps on my Chinese nav that are free and the device is cheap as chips.

I paid £50 for a Western Europe update in October last year...took flipping days and many online chats to get it to even load and I still can t get postcodes on it. ( 4year old sat nav to be fair) I still apparently drove through many fields in France last week !!!! Made for an interesting journey though.

Thanks @Mattyjwr and @timmo , hadn't updated for a while, used the cheaper prices and code, all worked, took about 1 hour (probably quicker if I'd switched to wired rather than wifi) all downloaded and installed. If you see me in Wales rather than Peterborough, then something has gone wrong.

If you use paypal to pay it wants to set up a recurring payment.........another way to get money as how often do people forget to cancel payment the following year. I guess the card payment is the same.
I will just continue to use my outdated maps and just hope it gets me there..........or not as per usual.

Better still get copilot and use your iPad or phone. So far so good in UK Belgium and France. Set to motorhome for under £30. I've got 2 tom toms at home gave them the kids to play with. :)

Got free lifetime map updates (4 per year) on my tomtom but there are still road changes which happened a year ago and still arent shown.
i have reported the local changes at least twice between updates

TomTom appear to have lost their way as far as customer services are concerned.

Sales above keeping customers happy seems to be the way they are going.

Seems like chinese sat navs are cheaper than tom tom upgrades,
It always makes me laugh when i am going up the m20 in kent , they re routed parts of the road to accommodate the tunnel rail link, and so my sat nav shows me that i am off road in a few places, i am reluctant to pay the extortionate update prices and am running 10 year old maps LOL

On this occasion, updates are less than £10 with the discount code.

Wouldn't it be easier to have a map that shows where there aren't any potholes?

What annoys me with TomTom is the constant nagging message "your map is now 9 months old" Yes, I know it's 9 months old, you've told me 5 ******* times today!!!

No way are map updates worth forty quid but for the price of a paper atlas, definitely.
