I have never seen one of these machines before. Cost £2 to use. Is this the way ahead?

I am sure they have been around for about 5 or so years now..
From memory, was it not Thetford themselves who 'invented' them ?
We saw one in Germany ( which was 2 € rather than £2 ) about 3 years ago

where is it? looks like a site, that will upset a few, if it is not a very cheap night rate that is not right really, cant see the cover lasting long, or if not I suspect there will be a lot of dumping nearby

at least I have a black tank makes slightly better value at 100+ litres at a time

The place we saw it located it was beside the elsan point..
Noticed a lot of folk were using the elsan as normal all week but then using the machine just before they left.

On a site at Loch Lommond. Normal toilet facilities also available. Might invest £2 before I leave out of curiosity.

Looks like you get chemicals wether you want them or not.

@DavidG58 not sure how that would cope with your black tank, back to a basic hole in the ground would be my guess.

interesting concept, I can't work out whether you remove your own cap or not, if not there could be some spillage issues

cant see how it could unthread it and replace it
You take the cap off first

If you watch the video cap stays on, all the have to do is open the blade.

I don't know what happens if you have a hole in the cap for a SOG or even a normal SOG fitting in the top, guess it just works the same.

It's a smart little thing though to know the difference in size of the cassette, there seem to be so many variants, although I guess the valve must always be in the middle, but even so the different lengths must be an issue

but as you say Martin, sod all use for my black tank, for that matter so is the elsan

I tried one out while in Scotland a few weeks ago, think it was In Oban, very good, cleans it and refills it with the chemical again, I wouldn't use it all the time but just curious how good it was

how does it shake that little turd out of the corner though, that one that always slops around even after the 5th rinse

You wouldn't believe the noise it makes, it must have some sort of Hoover contraption in there that could suck a golf ball through a hose pipe :D
It then pumps it down through the drain at a rate of knots, it does that 2 or 3 times and then refills it, ideal for the people with a gag reflex at the chemical disposal point, put the cassette in pull down the door, take out when finished, don't know that I'd bother with it all the time if I'm honest though

I don't mind emptying it, it's the "walk of shame" through a busy campsite/rally field that I don't like.

No doubt the sites that will have them are the ones that will have decent Elsan points that are OK to use anyway
On some of the CL and CS sites we have stayed on I would gladly pay £2 to avoid having to lift their sewer cover!!!!!!

maybe somebody programmed it to do "the shit shake shimmy" a move regularly witnessed when waiting in line for the CDP

Looks like someone inventing something for which there isn't a real need. If its like the power and water points on French aires it will soon be Knackered.

There was one of these at El Eden campsite at Peniscola earlier this year. Cost €1 and was used quite frequently but not by me. Ideal if you don't like emptying the cassette yourself but you still have to carry your cassette to the machine and stand there in the queue for two minutes.
There was an alternative free elsan point.

I'd quite like one with a hot steam cleaner that washes inside and out - something like an autoclave..
The thought of lifting out a hot, sterile, shiny cassette - mmmm. I'd pay good money for that :)
