We find Tibbie Shiels ideal for a quiet weekend just chilling, the site is nothing fancy it does have showers and facilities although we haven't used them. Only other thing there is a pub, a loch and stunning views. It's less than an hour from us and only about 17 miles from the M74, very narrow road in places but worth it.

Since 2012 but longer in my dreams
Looks great Gerry, ideal for a bit of kayaking,I also like the fire pit as I think a fire adds to the camping experience. Will have a look when we get home and mabey use it as a stopover on our next trip !

We looked at this last year for New Year's Eve but decided too far for the time we had. Still not been but does look a fab place. Thanks for reminding me about it (y)

We've stayed here. They charge for the kindling for your fire pit and also state that you must buy your booze from the pub. otherwise its a very nice spot but gets very busy with tents. Getting water was a bit of a problem as you couldn't get the van within 20 yards of the only tap.
