So! Getting ready for a trip and like you do give the MH a wash and brush up " Why? It always rains" anyway this Wasp starts buzzing me so I go into combat mode and start swinging and swishing the Wasp Leather about trying to destroy this Ferocious Bug that's attacking me!!

I couldn't get to it and stand back for the next assault and then!! It goes into the Alde Vent and then another one follows it!! The Wasps appear to have taken up residence inside my Alde exhaust pipe,Wow I have a swarm!! Well six at least I have given it a blast of serious Killer Bug Spray in the hope they will all vacate the premises by tomorrow morning when I can check if all is clear.

I believe they build one of those cone type nests so I'm hoping they were on a reconnaissance mission, more later.

I hate wasps:mad:

I got stung by a swarm when I was about 13 who took exception to my hitting their home with a stick.

Unreasonable lot they are.

We had a wasps nest in our garage ... they'd set up home in the 'moulding' that we'd removed from the boot of our car which was where a spare wheel should have been (gunk instead!). The wasps nest was a wonderful thing to see but unfortunately they didn't appreciate being evicted ... hubby got stung a few times when he removed it from the garage and then sprayed and destroyed it!

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
There's a train of thought that says that swatting wasps is the thing that riles them, but I've never even seen any of the wasps that have stung me until the evil little shits do their worst. Once I was doing an emergency transfer between two Ayrshire hospitals with a police escort when a wasp got down the back of my squad suit & began to furiously sting me. To this day I have no idea how I managed to drive whilst this was happening, but my back would have been a nice example of join the dots.

Stick your heating on full for a couple of hours if the spray hasn't worked. If the queen is already in residence, it will either drive her out, or kill her. Either way, the rest won't hang around long once she's gone.

Injured or disturbed wasps release an alarm pheromone which the others in the bike respond to.

Fatalities occur each year due to adverse reaction when people get stung whilst attempting to remove live bikes, either spray first or call in somebody who knows what they are doing. Last year we had an old guy in our village try to use meths and a lighter to clear a bike from a shed, ended up setting himself on fire, stung many times and damned nearly lost the shed in the ensuing fire too, funny as hell when his wife tells the story but oh so close to a possible tragic outcome.

You should try removing one that's buzzing away in your crash helmet when you are hacking down a motorway.
Or a fly in your eye as you forgot to bring your sunglasses when out on a ride,,Doh!!

I quite like the nests. I still haven't cleaned up last years that's on the back of one of my shed double doors. It's huge - around 3' x 2'.

Wasps always get a bad rep

My son actually thought that Wasps didn't produce anything!

He knew that Bee's gave us Honey, but didn't realise that Wasps make Jams

A friend of Jennys asked me to look in her loft because she had heard a lot of buzzing.....
When I went up there was one nest over half a metre in diameter ! ! ! and another 2 beside it about half that size ! ! !
That is the most I have EVER seen in one place, so I shut the loft hatch smartest and told her to call a specialist to come and remove them.
He also said that they were the largest swarm he had seen in his experience...

Mitch.

Nowt wrong with Wasps - I rather like rugby meself.

However when dealing with the dive bombing rather than the try scoring variety - RAID wasp killer is bloody good !
