hi i have been reading about you guys fitting computer fans to the top grill outside

i recently did mine with 2 120mm fans and a digital thermostat

i have set the temperature to be controlled at 32c to 35c

here in portugal the the thermostat is working fine and holding the temperature fine
before i left home i checked the temperature at the back of the fridge without the fans and it was 51C
and i originally had 1 fan and this struggled to bring the temperature down below 32c so i added a second fan

thetford do make a fan kit but the fan is very small so i cannot see it working that well

i am wandering if there is a recommended temperature for this

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
I would have thought this time of the year you should not need the fan on.
We have the thetford fridge and it works fine here in Spain at this time of the year with fans off and we only really them as and when needed from May to Sept each year.

Also did a DIY install.. 2 x 120mm fans with a thermistor that cuts the fans in at around 25c.. and I also fitted a off/ man/auto switch.. but to be honest, I prefer just switching on and off as required.. and as Don said.. shouldn't need it this time of year..

Since 2008 & many years tugging
I set mine to 35 deg with a 5 deg hysteresis , I find it comes on when the outside air temperature is 25 deg find it just right. However the set temperature will vary depending on the installation and the position of the sensor, I mounted my sensor on an alloy plate between the fans.
For fitting the fans use cable ties to attach them to the inside of the top vent.

I fitted my twin fans to the top louver with right angle brackets which I gently squeezed in my vice until I got the angle I needed then fitted to top louver with a couple of self tappers.
