...Anyone else do them?
As in when you pitch up on a site, no TV, no computer and definitely no phone.
We did it a couple of weeks back in the good weather we had a for 3 days......Pure bliss it was, no distractions an adult only site near to the beach, just us, the dog and nature......Felt like we were away for a whole week:Cool:

I feel another one coming on early next week looking at the forecast:thumb:

I've removed the TV and sky box from my van and am thinking of removing the satellite dish as well, it's nice just to get away and relax and catch up on my reading. :thumb:

We have just had nearly three weeks like that. The only thing we had to have was the phone as I have to keep in touch with my 86 year old mother.
No tv or computer and we didn't miss it one bit.

Haven't seen SWMBO for a couple of days. Think she is locked in a room catching up on Neighbours

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. ::bigsmile:

Most of our 'holidays' are like that abroad! We have a TV but only use it normally to watch an hour's pre-recorded TV programme (put onto DVD) on some nights if we feel like it; the phone is only used to keep in touch with parent at home occasionally with no incoming calls at all; as for the laptop - with no wifi signal when we're abroad we don't usually bother getting it out except to back-up photos off my camera every now and then.

In the UK the only difference is that I might get the laptop out to go on the internet as I have a MIFI dongle so am not restricted to free wifi, but usually don't both much in any case.

I like to chill out after a day's fun just doing my puzzle book whilst the dogs have a snuggle on the bed snoozing (and hubby too sometimes!). :thumb:

I stopped watching ANY of the main UK soaps years and years ago as they were 'crap' then and are even worse now IMV, plus they took up way tooooooo much time - I don't know how people manage to do anything else on an evening nowadays as they are on so often so I am really, really happy I DID stop watching them!!! Now the only things I watch regularly are some of the US tv series (The Mentalist, CSI NY, CSI LV, NCIS etc) but as they are only shown once a week I record them so I can watch them as and when I want and don't 'have' to pack them all into a mammoth TV session to try to get back up to date quickly.

We have not had a TV in the Caravan or Motorhome for over thirty years now, we do take the laptop with us when we go abroad, switched it on once on our last three month trip to France to put some more books on Jennies Kindle.

Do have a mobile phone usually text the girls once a week to let them know we are still spending their inheritance LOL.

We arrive on site,
watches off (timings dictated by girls, are we hungry, tired etc)
phones off
no tv
laptop taken but rarely used, maybe once or twice a week to check weather, oh look its raining (no need to check it then)

I have had strange looks at times, the girls wake us in the morning to get fed, walked. Then after what seems a long time I might have a glass of wine::bigsmile:, well I thought it was lunch time ..... only 1030 in the morning:RollEyes:

Cheers

Our tv is not used while away, but SWMBO had 14hours of Coronation street to watch when we got back last.

Laptop rarely used except for booking crossings, and preferably on free wifi.

Hang on while I look at my watch
Got 2 Of the square goggle boxes in our van. Need a spare in case the unthinkable happens and one breaks down.

What on earth would we talk to each other about??? It's difficult to read a book on top of a couple of bottles of wine.

Hardly watch the TV at home. Haven't watched TV in the van for 18 months so it's being left at home.

As for phones/laptop/tablet/e-readers we use them all. We like toys so why not? ::bigsmile:

Another TV-free van here ::bigsmile: Entertainment comes from the radio, battleships and Dalek Uno, boules....

We do take the iPad with us for route-finding/parking finding, plus OS maps.

Phones are present but only for just in case; and anyway I'm on EE so usually get no signal anyway :winky:

When I were a lad, we had a few caravans for quite a few years. Never had a TV in there and when I was young I didn't like that! However it did get me out and playing and that must have made an impression on me because now I would never ever want a TV in the MH.

Funnily enough, Miss M had the exact same experience when she was little and thankfully our philosophies are aligned ::bigsmile: - get up when it's light, bed and sleep once it's dark. Cycling, wine/beer/food and some sightseeing in between.

Laptops stay at home, no TV, mobiles are unused apart from to talk to parents or, when in NL, check maps, opening times or whatever online.

It is heavenly and we often talk about doing it at home but it just isn't the same. We have a laptop each at home and much to our own disgust are often found sitting in front of the TV each with our laptops. Terrible!

On our recent trip to France we had no television, no radio ,laptop taken just in case needed for work, phones only for emergencies, it was lovely, we even had trouble remembering the day!!
We rarely use a television in the van even in the U K.

It is nice to have time to do other things like cycling, and whilst in France we spent many hours building a camper van from lego!!
