Even better than Lauterbrunnen is Camping Aaregg at Brienz. Neither is cheap, but nothing in Switzerland is cheap.

Since 2011 therefore I'm not a newbie anymore
If you want cheap in Switzerland try the TCS site in Interlaken.

Right on the river and the nearest campsite to Interlaken Railway station East.

Small discount with international camping card.

Basic but worth it for its position to the town centre and railway station to go up to the two valleys of Wengen and Grindlewald.

Site

Hi

Coming back from Venice, I'm guessing you need a site along the shores of Lake Lugano or Lake Lucerne.

There's Camping Paradiso at Lugano - lakeside, but be careful where you pitch - there are trains near by!

Closer to Basle, we stayed at Camping Sursee - OK for what it is but no views etc.

CS La Fouly, its in southern Switzerland just across the Italian border. Its ACSI affiliated and has brilliant walks. I went there back end of June last year for a couple of days and ended up staying a lot longer.

ps the walks nearly killed me

A class
Camping Rutti, Stechelberg which is at the end of the valley above Lauterbrunnen. Half the price of camping Jungfrau and with amazing cliffs/ views all around you. Cable car station up to Murren is just down the road. lots of walking and cycle paths.
