The filter is 95mm diameter so I'm taking it that the 86mm is across flats. You do however need to make sure that whatever filter make you fit is OEM standard 9 sided as I think the MANN version is for one NOT However it does look like it would also fit that too

HALFORDS SELL 'EM!!!

Drive! Park! search! locate! BUY!!! How bloody easy is that?

Well it might be convenient in a city environment but when your nearest halfords is 30 mile round trip you tend to " log on, search , buy , do something useful " and wait for the item to come by post, sometimes the next day!
This saving a gallon of fuel and two hours time which at my hourly rate is a lot!

My Halfords is near but traffic laden and will cost far more than postage too :thumb:

We were there recently. I like the site and the refurb is good.

It's just arrived and I can confirm that size 8 by 32mm would do the job. However another alternative is roofing screws like these with the sealing washer removed. Uses an mate socket.
These are a bit long but my ironmonger across the road has all lengths and sells singley

Original equipment screw which is a PZ2 head and it is all too easy for people to use a philips screwdriver and destroy the head. You'd be amazed how many dont realise there is a difference
Using either of the two suggestions will alleviate the problem :thumb:

Job concluded on site this morning. Stuck with the old lower half of the housing as it is perfectly serviceable. I stuck with the overlong self drilling roofing bolts and screwed them in by hand first with a long 1/4" drive

Job done! much easier in future

How is the bottom of the filter connected? And how is the whole unit removed? I may follow in your footsteps after a family Mother's Day celebration ...damn..gets in the way of playing with my toy!
Two more questions/observations.
Do you know the correct touch up paint for my 2008 van? It seems to be the same on the body as on the cab . As Autocruise were taken over by Swift after my van was made my dealer cannot sell me a touch up pen for the right colour white as they have no records they say.
Another job to do on the van as the fuse holder (10amp) for my Alde heating system melted during my trip away cutting off the electrics to the heater so had to switch to gas. The design of the fuse holder is pretty crap and I had thought of replacing it a while ago as the fuse was really hard to get out. It fits in the vertical face of the under bed locker using a circular hole but I could not find an exact replacement so have ordered a square switched and fused normal uk type of fitting and a dry wall back box . It will need a bit of nifty woodwork to fit a square box into the circular hole. Must remind myself to measure twice and cut once before starting the job to get a good fit. How did I ever pass woodwork at school??
