Does anyone know how bad midges in east Finland and on the Baltic coast are likely to be in June July and August?
Hubby reacts very badly to them.

I think you should be safe on the coast from the mosquitos but near lakes inland will be different. Avoid the far north!

Oh dear.
By midges I meant mozzies. This sounds not good.

Sorry for the late reply, Bob is quite right, we were eaten alive, if you have a known reaction to them, then either take a very good supply of the best for you, medication.
We find Avon's O so soft woodland cream works for us, or antihistamine creams.

Wifey also reacts badly to mozzie (and midgie) bites so when we went last year took anti-histamine tablets daily. Didn't stop her getting bitten but very little reaction. You might check with your doctor first, though, especially if you're on any other medication.

Best to stay away from water with trees etc. close by. Doesn't seem to be a problem with open water.
