We are often looking for an Aldi or Lidl while we are in Europe. Invariably, there won't be any along the route and I pick the option of "nearby". It would be oh so useful if each entry showed more than the distance. If it gave an indication of NNW or ESE it would make it much easier to pick the best one. As things are now I pick one, find it is in the wrong direction and then have to pick again.

Is it me that's thick? Or, does somebody have a work around?

Don't know about Tom Tom but when my Garmin shows nearby locations it also puts an arrow which points in the direction.

it should not be that tough of a feature to add.

We dont have a TomTom but a Navigon.
It has the option to display poi's in a city.
We choose a reasonable city which is "en route", look at the poi's which are grouped by sort. Pick the poi we want and have it added to the route.

Piece of cake

We do have that option on TomTom but it does mean guessing at a city along the route which may or may not have the poi close by. Would it be so difficult for TomTom to simply put the basic direction in a 3 digit letter code (NNW) for instance.
