do we need a red & white stripe board on the Fiamma back box.in spain or france if so does it have to be plastic or aluminium thanks.

Yes in Spain, can be either but aluminium only for Italy. I suggest get an ally one anyway as the metal bits on the plastic ones rust and the markings can come off if you use a jet wash - that's been my experience.

Seconded. Our plassy one lasted 3 summers of Southern Europe type sun before cracking up completely.............err rather like me

Personally,regardless of country,I would put a board on if anything exceeded the body of the vehicle in length.

In Spain, if your rear carrier is 10% of vehicle length you must have a board. As to plastic/ally, have no ideas but my choice would be aluminium
