Hi all,
I viewed a potential purchase today, a Pilote Galaxy 1999 36000 miles. There is a hatch with a door about the same size of one from a thetford cassette on the drivers side front section.

Apparently this was where a section of the van was removed to install a new shock absorber. This seems a bit extreme to me.

Will this have compromised the structure of the vehicle in any way other than having a pointless hatch?
Regards

Hi probably not-the hatch may have even helped strengthen it -does seem strange though:?

Sometimes extreme is needed. Possibly a seized bolt, rounded off and no way to cut it out.

As long as it's watertight you should be OK.

It's a very neat repair solution so a good chance the repair was well done.

If it doesn't encroach on the habitation area and is fitted with the hinge to the front, just see it as an inspection hatch.

If it does encroach on the habitation area then as was said before make sure it's warter-tight.

The hinges are to the front, good point, presume its to avoid being blown open?

At least by the sound of it a company with a bit of thought on how to do a neat repair, and not just as seen to often a rough repair, with no thought for after effects.
