Just had a thought, They had a purge on a few years ago at the end of Americana. Diesel dippers first followed by anything that looked like it may weigh over 7.5 tons was escorted to a weighbridge. It was in the days when there was a lot of older big Yanks running around. Have not been for a few years so don't know what the situation is now.

YES THEY DO

pulled into a service station in belguim the year before last and they were doing an operation happy road whats that we thought filled up with a quarter of a tank of diesel as we wanted to make our way to luxembourg before topping right up for cheapo diesel
just as we pulled out of the pump area we were directed to an area where they were weighing caravans and motorhomes
had to drive slowly across a weighing contraption with all passengers in tow
oh dear we thought as the policeman came across with his printed result ticket
you must be good at packing as you are allowed 3.50 and you weigh 3.45 you are lucky
good job we didn't have the cycles on the back and that we hadn't filled up more than a quarter of a tank
very close to a on the spot fine
BE WARNED IT DOES HAPPEN

In this country VOSA operate "Operation Mermaid" a long term, road safety project running throughout Europe focussed on vehicle maintinance, driver documentation and drivers hours offences.

I did not know, so I cheated, and looked it up, it took 2 mins of Gooooooooooooooooooooooogling. :ROFLMAO:
