did both stop working at the same time?

Did the step and fridge stop working at the same time?

Usual things to do check fuses .. also see if the spades are dirty as well as looking for blown fuses

check that earth straps are OK and clean

Is there a master switch off anywhere?

I'd second the first reply. When the fuse went on my step a while ago it affected the 12v fridge as well.

Power out!!!

Hi, did they both stop working immediatly after the engine was fitted???

If so, then just maybe the wire that feeds the fridge via a relay under the bonnet may have been disturbed. Check the wiring and relay there and if not maybe a fuse elsewhere in the system that is maybe not so obvious.

Happy hunting

many many years! since I was a kid
the fridge is powered by a relay, that energises when it gets a signal from the alternator that the engine is running. Its quite possible that the aux wire (thin) to the starter was missed off when fitting the new engine

have seen several power steps get their retract signal from the fridge power circuit as it tends to be near the door

check for a fuse gone first then trace the signal wire and ensure its connected

Since 2005
sounds like the engine fitters didn't reconnect the battery connections for the fridge and step relays to me.

have a look around the battery area for disconnected wires

Step Problems

I suppose you've checked but in case you don't know, on auto trails the automatic step fuse is in the engine compartment.
I had a similar problem on my cheyenne after travelling through a bad rain storm

step and fridge update

All is now working it took an auto electrician about 10 minutes to find fault and fix it was a very thin black wire had been snapped off the negative side of the battery to the split charge relays
