help please
i looked up speed limits in france and the speed limits are set in 2 categories
Motorhome under 3.5t
Motorhome 3.5t - 7.5t

does anyone know what the weight refers to

we are max laden weight 3.5t but travel just under, as our payload is .860 t
so which speed category does that make us

we are newbies so sorry if its an obvious answer - i looked up all places and cant find the answer

It most likely to be your maximum weight. If yours is 3500kgs Max go with that one. Ours is 3800kgs so we would be in the heavier group.

That places you in the under 3500kg category.
Nothing to do with payload etc...you could have a van made of tissue paper but still carry 3 tons as your gross weight is still 3500kg.
Both cats are gross weight...GVW...MTPLM etc

I can understand your confusion, both categories include 3.5t. :) It's a bit like why in the armed forces midnight was always 23:59 hrs, meaning the midnight at the end of the day, as opposed to the one which has just happened, which is referred to as 00:01 hrs. :)
